Monday evening

Hey ya'll!  Today was a lot of fun!  This morning we had homework due in Hebrew class as well as a daily quiz and a Vocab Quiz.  But the reader forgot to prepare a vocab quiz, so that's postponed until Wednesday! :)  And after that, I worked on the homework that was due in Dr. Parker's class until worship time.  Natanial had worship, and he had some really interesting thoughts.  I want to spend some time writing a blog post about that, but I guess I ran out of time today. =P

Then there was classes and finally lunch!  We had enchiladas for lunch today, and they were so good!  And then chocolate mint pie for dessert.  That was really good!  Oh yeah, and Mexican cornbread as well.  And corn.  Yeah, it was a good lunch.

After lunch, I spent quite a while in Dr. Parker's office getting classes and everything figured out for next semester.  Trying to see if I can work 15 hours a week as a Bible Worker plus take 16 credits of school.  But he thinks I can do it.  So we'll see.  Now, just to see if I get the job with Eastridge or if it will be another church.  Time will tell!

Oh, I keep forgetting to say this!  But I got my Andrew's Study Bible on Saturday night!!!  They gave each of us from SALT one after the meetings.  So I'm having the whole team sign mine.  I think most of them have...  I just need to get all the ones who haven't yet. :)

Anyway, after my talk with Dr. Parker, I was walking out of the Religion Building and I ran into the rest of SALT.  They had just gotten out of their Christian Spirituality class.  So I visited for a little while, then we decided to go play tennis for an hour or so.  So I ran a couple of errands for school, changed my clothes, and then ran over to the tennis courts.  It was a lot of fun!  We definitely need to play more often. :)

Then LisaMarie and I went up to the tables outside of the student center and worked on the homework due for Christian Beliefs.  That took about an hour and a half...  But it's good to have it out of the way!  It was about the Sabbath.

Then DeWayne came to my room and we watched Soul Surfer.  I really enjoyed the movie!  I liked how accurate they tried to be.  I guess they didn't have much choice when the Hamilton family was on the set every single day. =P  There were several things I didn't really like, but overall it was a great film!  And they didn't dwell very long at all on the shark attack, which was a humongous plus.  Now I want to go surfing! lol

But anyway, it is late and I need to get to bed.  So goodnight! :)

October 30

Today I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but oh well.  I guess it was a Sunday. =P  This morning they had some sort of an event in the gym with booths from different parts of Southern and stuff for the Alumni to go through.  So I helped with the Evangelistic Resource Center/SALT booth from 9:00 - 10:30.  After that, I worked a little on homework, then ate lunch.  After that I went out behind the dorm where they had a car show today.  So I enjoyed looking at all the cars.  Then I finished the homework that is due in Hebrew by tomorrow and called the family.  While I was talking with Mom, DeWayne came up and we walked over to the Goliath Wall, where I ran into Jordans!  They are friends we met in Michigan when Dad was in seminary and we've kept in touch through the years.  So they were out there, and I got to visit with them for awhile.  They had no idea I was even here! lol  So anyway, they were very happy to see me. :)

After that, I worked a little on different things and took a shower.  And then DeWayne, Deborah, Katie and I met in the conference room upstairs to play games.  It was fun, but then LisaMarie and two of her brothers, Stefan and Michael, came, so then that made everything even more fun! lol  You'd have to know their family...  Anyway, and the game we were playing was absolutely ridiculous.  So yeah...  Anyway, we just finished that and now I'm getting ready to try to learn Hebrew vocabulary for the test in the morning and then I'm off to sleep!  Goodnight!

Sabbath

Today started off when my alarm woke me up at 8:00. =P  I had oatmeal for breakfast, because I actually remembered to grab a couple of packets at the caf yesterday.  So that was good.  Then Ryan, Victor, Eric and I all went to the church.  We had to practice for special music this morning.  Hahna, Victor, Joe, and I all sang Sweet Beulah Land.  It went pretty well, actually.  So I'm uploading it to YouTube right now.  So I doubt it will be up by the time I'm ready to go to bed, so what I'll probably do is post it tomorrow morning...

After church we had potluck, which was really good.  Then we practiced for special music tonight.  Ray, Ryan, DeWayne, Joe, Natanial, and I sang Come Thou Fount.  It went pretty good too.  I'll have to post that as well...

After we practiced, we went up to a beautiful lake and waterfall!  It was called Lula Lake, and it's in Georgia.  It was so pretty!  I'll try to get pictures of that up as well...  We'll see.  I have lots of homework as well.

Tonight was the last meeting.  Which is a good as well as sad thing...  It was on the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  We had fellowship food after that.  And then after I got back to my hall, I found my roommate and a couple other guys from the hall playing with a soccer ball.  They were trying to get it into a trashcan. =P  And then we put the trashcan on it's side and tried kicking the ball into it.  And then we set up two trashcans and played hall soccer.  That was a lot of fun!  And then Katie texted me saying that she and Sarah wanted to watch Voyage of the Dawn Treader, so would I mind taking her to Wal-Mart to get it out of the Redbox DVD rental thing?  So I said OK.  Wal-Mart ended up not having it, but I quickly downloaded the little Redbox iPhone App, and found a place on the Lee Highway that did have it.  So we drove over there.  And we put the top down on my car, and it was 39 degrees out.  But it was a lot of fun!  Especially when I started "racing" a Mustang. =P  But my common sense quickly overruled when I remembered that it's a Saturday night and we had already seen a whole bunch of police out.  So I quickly slowed back down to the speed limit. =P

I kind of wanted to watch the movie with them, but we couldn't come up with a practical idea on to how or where we could watch it, and since it was already 11:00, I decided the better part of wisdom would be to go to bed. =P  So that is what I'm doing!  Goodnight!

PS: The video from special music is below.

Happy Sabbath!

Today was quite frustrating at first.  After Hebrew class, I went downtown to try to get temporary tags for my car.  And it was pouring down rain, which makes it miserable to begin with.  And then I couldn't find anywhere to park down there!  Finally I found the right building, and found out that I had to have an emissions test before they would give me tags.  So I decided I'll just forget it.  I'll leave the little cardboard thing on that says "Tags applied for" until I get my Alaska tags.  But that wasted most of my morning, so I didn't get back to my room to work on homework until nearly 11:30.  But then I got my clothes folded and more of that book read.  And worked a little on the Hebrew homework that's due on Monday.  So I got quite a bit accomplished this afternoon.  And then I ate dinner!  Since Friday breakfasts are so big (it's breakfast burritos in the caf), I usually skip lunch and eat at 5:00 since it's cheaper than lunch and it's usually something really good Friday night.  Often haystacks or chile hot dogs.  Today was haystacks. :)

Then the meeting tonight was on Heaven.  That was really good.  Tim Taylor spoke, so that was nice.  The pastor has let each of the ministerial externs preach one meeting, so tonight was his turn.  He did a good job.  Then Hahna, Victor, Joe, and I went over "Sweet Beulah Land" for tomorrow morning.  We're singing that for Sabbath School.  I'll see if I can't get someone to record us and then I can upload it for you all...  Then I as so happy because it quit raining so I could put the top down on the car when we came home!  It was pretty cold, but oh well.  Everyone survived. =P

Now I am off to sleep!  Goodnight and Happy Sabbath! :)

PS

Oh yeah, here is the photo I promised in daylight.  And just a side note.  Some people thought that I had replaced the windshield yesterday in the BMW.  But it was in my Geo...

October 27

Today was so wonderful!  We had outreach in the afternoon and I got to drive my car again. :)  But that's getting ahead of myself. =P

This morning we had Hebrew lab, then Michelle's class where Dr. Parker taught most of it about clearing people for baptism.  Then we had convocation, which was pretty good.  And then lunch.  And after that we had Personal Evangelism.  And Dr. Martin forgot to bring the quizzes, so he gave us each the 10 points for it!!! :)  So that was a highlight.  And then we had Joe's outreach class.  He tries to tell us all that his is the serious class - the one that we aren't allowed to have fun in.  Unfortunately, his is the class that we look forward to all day.  Well, that's what we told him.  And it's really ridiculous because we are all so hilarious and giggly in his class.  Everything seems so funny...  But then Hahna and I had several Bible studies scheduled this afternoon.  Unfortunately, no one was home except for one guy who is scheduled for Tuesday nights, but we hadn't seen him in a long time, so we stopped and had a really nice visit with him.  And I am so glad it didn't rain!  We were able to put the top down on the car on the way out to our territory and back.  Hahna drove us back to the college, and it was so nice being able to lean my head against the seat and stare up into the sky. :)

Anyway, then I read a little bit in the long book that is supposed to be read and a 2-4 page report written on it by Tuesday...  And then studied flashcards for the vocab quiz in the morning.  I am so not ready for that...  Oh well.  My head feels like a brick though, so I'm off to sleep!

Wednesday night

Well, today has been really rough, but it's ended amazing!  I was tired I guess, and nothing seemed to go right.  I guess it started when the guy who was supposed to replace my windshield between 12 and 3 got here after 3:00.  And I had to run some errands this afternoon.  But yeah, things all worked out and I am still alive. =P  Yeah, and then somehow years on my car got mixed up so he had the wrong windshield, but thankfully he was able to go ahead and get another windshield and still finish it up this evening sometime.

OK.  Drumroll please...  I bought a new car today!!!  I am SO excited!!!  It's a BMW 323i and it's a convertible!!!  It's a 1998 and it is so amazing!  Definitely not perfect, but good enough for me.  I have pictures below that I took tonight after coming home from the meeting.  Thankfully Hahna was able to take me over to pick up my car right before the meeting, so then I just went directly from there to the seminar.  Anyway, having a convertible at night is so nice. :)  Although I couldn't watch the stars very well while I was driving. =P  But anyway, I will try to get more photos tomorrow in the daylight and will upload them tomorrow night.  But these will do for now...

I'm off to sleep!  Goodnight!

Goodnight on Tuesday!

So today was hectic, busy, and pretty good all at the same time.  Classes in the morning and outreach in the afternoon with a prophecy meeting after that.  It was on the Millennium, and I absolutely loved it!  I don't think I would have minded if he would have preached all night!  But anyway, beyond that, nothing spectacular happened.  I'll tell you all about what I did yesterday tomorrow hopefully.  So until then, goodnight!

Picture

So I forgot the picture of the newspaper. =P  Oh well, here it is. :)

Monday night

Hey Ya'll!

So today was amazing!  Hebrew class in the morning, where Dr. Klingbeil told us all about his trip to Israel.  And he had brought a newspaper for us!  And he gave us each us a page.  I got the cover page. :)  That's what the picture is of.

Then we had a wonderful speaker for class this morning.  Randy Siebold talked about education.  He was really good.  And then Dr. Parker took his class outside, inspired by the earlier class.  After lunch, I did some homework and then I did something.  I'm trying to decide if it was the stupidest mistake I've made in my life or if it's a great decision that I will be happy about for years down the road.  We'll see.  Either way, I am really excited about it right now. :)  But you'll have to wait to find out what it is.  I'll upload pictures and tell you all in another day or two. =P

Anyway, then we had the meeting tonight on what the remnant does with time, talents, and wealth.  So that was good.  But anyway, I have a Bible study to finish that's due tomorrow, so I'd better sign off.  Goodnight!

Sunday

So it is really late, but today was amazing!  Worked on homework for awhile and the video from Soddy Daisy on Thursday, then went to the flea market that was today and looked around.  There was some good food from some pathfinder groups. :)  Then went over to Rebecca Gates' house with Joel Miller, DeWayne, and Donald Sparks wife.  That was fun.  And then Anna Bartlett showed up somewhere during the afternoon.  After that, I came back and worked on some more homework before heading to the bonfire tonight.  That was really fun!  So anyway, I'm home now and headed to sleep.  Goodnight!

Sabbath evening!

So today has been such an amazing day!  As is every day. =P  But it all started wonderful when I got 10 hours of sleep last night!  That was nice.  I was in bed by 10:00 and my alarm woke me up at 8.  And tonight, even though I haven't gotten to bed by 10, will hopefully be good as well.  I won't set an alarm!  But there could be other problems.  I'll get to that in a moment.

Church was good.  We had two seminars.  First one was on Israel and the Secret Rapture, and the second one for church was on the United States in Prophecy.  And then we had potluck.  That was the best part of all. ;)  After potluck, we ended up going to a nursing home with no warning and doing a little program.  So that was fun.  I ended up giving a short talk on Psalm 146.  I think it went alright...  And LisaMarie and Sarah did a special music with violins (Sarah's borrowing my violin...) and Hahna did a solo.  And we did some singing and Ron Green (one of the church members) told a story about trusting in God.

After that, we went to Sunset Rock with a bunch of people.  It was really pretty.  I'll have some photos at the bottom...

Then we rushed back for the meeting.  Tonight was on the true church.  And we had food afterwards.  And then I'm back at my room!  But the problem is, my card wouldn't unlock my room door!  The lock is malfunctioning.  So a dean and I got in through the window.  And he's calling a maintenance guy to come fix it.  So hopefully he either comes real soon or else he comes in the morning some time...  Either way, I'm afraid it will hinder my sleep. :(  But anyway, I'm off to sleep now.

PS  To see the titles on the photos, go to the album on Picasa...  https://picasaweb.google.com/joelcsutherland/SunsetRock?authuser=0&feat=directlink

Friday night

So I'm going to try to get to bed at a somewhat decent hour tonight!  It's 9:30 right now, and I just got back from the meeting.  But that's getting ahead of myself. =P  Breakfast was at 8:30 this morning, and before the end of it, we had 39 people crammed into Joe's house for breakfast burritos.  And boy was it good! :)  After that, we played Uno for awhile and stuff, then I came back to my room and got all the pictures from yesterday uploaded to Facebook.  So you all can check those out.

At 1:00, some of us met by the duck pond and played soccer and then Ultimate Frisbee for awhile.  That was a lot of fun.  Then I had to take a shower and eat something before rushing off.  Hahna met me at 20 til 5 and we went over to Mr. King's house to see if we could give him his Bible study, but he wasn't home.  And then we had the meeting tonight.  It was on the Mark of the Beast.

And now I'm in my room and getting ready for bed!  Below are some pictures from breakfast...  Goodnight!

Oct. 20

Today was so much fun!!!  I had a very slow morning.  Cleaned my room and got my iPod cleaned up and sent off to Charity.  And then we left for Soddy Daisy after lunch around 1:00.  We ended up mostly hiking.  I got lots of pictures, but it's too late to go through them now.  I'll try to post them tomorrow sometime...  But after we got back, those of us in LisaMarie's van decided we were hungry, so we went to CiCi's Pizza.  They have an all-you-can-eat pizza and pasta buffet for $5!  That certainly beats the caf.  Anyway, so Ryan, Katie, LisaMarie, Joel Miller, and I all went there.  It was lots of fun spending the day with Joel today.  At least we both agree that Joels are perfect. =P

After that, I quickly changed and them met Joe, Michelle, Lynnette, Bethany, Deborah, and Silke to head to the concert tonight in the Tivoli Theater in Chattanooga.  It was pretty good.  The pianist was amazing during the piano concerto.  And the symphony was pretty good too.  So that started at 8 and got over around 10.  So now I am in my room and getting ready for bed.  We're having breakfast at Joe's at 8:30, so I'd better sleep fast! :)

Exciting!

I got my iPhone today!!!  I am SO excited and happy!  Anyway, so that was the highlight.  And I finished school for the first half of the semester!  We had 2 midterms today.  But anyway.  We're having a party tonight in Ryan's room because the break is starting, so I'd better go.  All the food will be gone if I don't eat now. =P

Midterms!!!

MIDTERMS!!!!  Yeah, not exactly the funnest things in the world.  Oh well.  At least it means that midterm break is starting Thursday. :)  Although we only get one day off, because we have to be here for the prophecy meetings.  I guess we get Sunday off, though, too, because that's a night off from the meetings. :)  Oh yeah, but we had lots of fun planning stuff this morning for our day off!  We're going to go up to Tsade Daisy and go cliff jumping.  Although it looks like the weather is going to get a lot cooler over the next few days, so we'll see...  But yeah, that's what the plan is for Thursday.  And then some of us are going to a concert in Chattanooga that evening.  Some classical piece that Joe is really excited about. =P  And then we're planning breakfast burritos for Friday morning!  We decided that last week went so well, we'd do it again this Friday. :)

Anyway, so today we had our first midterm.  It was in Michelle's class, and I don't think it went too horribly bad.  We'll see.  And then other classes and after lunch and outreach class Hahna and I spent awhile working on a Bible study about the 70 weeks for Chester Clark's class tomorrow.  And then the meeting tonight, on the state of the dead.  So yeah, that's about all that happened!  I guess I will get to bed, because I have a Hebrew test at 8:00 that I need to get up early and study for...

October 17

Well, it's late, so this will be short.  I didn't do a whole lot, except for go to classes and study.  Oh yeah, it was nice because Dr. Klingbeil is gone, so his reader came in this morning, gave us our Vocab quiz, ran over the last little bit of Chapter 10, told us basically what would be on our test on Wednesday, and we were out of class after about 15 minutes! :)  So that was really nice.  Anyway, this afternoon I spent exactly an hour on the phone with Apple.  I mean, when I hung up and it said the time, it was 1:00:00, which was really amazing!  But I finally got the Voice Memo thing figured out, so now I can give everyone the classes that I've recorded.

This evening after the meeting, a group of us guys went to Amir and Max's room and studied for the midterm in Michelle's class that is tomorrow.  And then I came down here and went to bed!  So anyway, goodnight!

Sunday Night

"I stayed up until eleven o'clock with some dude.  No, no, no, I stayed up until eleven o'clock with some good looking guy."  That's what DeWayne told me to write for my post tonight. =P  Anyway, more did happen then just that!  But it's late, so I'll be brief.

We had class this morning with John Bradshaw.  It was so good!  He talked about the steps and essential elements required in doing an evangelistic series.  Then we had outreach class at 2:00.  Some of us went out after that and did Sabbath visits.  I got to go with Michelle to one of the people in my row that needed a visit.  She has the head knowledge, but just doesn't have the conviction, so we're praying that she will get conviction when the time is right.

Then Ryan and I went to the first meeting of the Bible Worker's Club.  Dr. Bauer gave a devotional and we had pizza and a bonfire and stuff.  It was fun.  Then we ran over to the Southern Connections worship thing at 6:15, where we had cookies and ice cream. :)  And then we rushed over to the church by 7:30 for the wind symphony concert.  That was really good!  I love band music. :)  I was nearly in tears during Amazing Grace near the end!

Then DeWayne and I went over flash cards for our Vocab Quiz in Hebrew in the morning and got distracted watching my trip videos from the way down and everything, but finally he left me so I could get to bed. =P  So goodnight!

Sabbath!

Today was a wonderful Sabbath!  I was sleeping very well this morning, until my alarm rudely awakened me at 8:00. lol  Yeah, I need more sleep.  Anyway, today was the first church service that the visitors were invited to.  So we had a seminar on how to keep the Sabbath at 9:30 and then Joe had a seminar on health at 11:00.  Then we had potluck. :)  Oh yeah, and we had at least 5 non-Adventists come for church!  So that was very exciting. :)

After potluck, several of us went over to the park by the VW Plant and went for a hike.  It was a lot of fun.  I have a video I'm uploading to the internet right now from it.  I'll post a link in the morning once it finishes converting and whatever...

After that, we had to go back to the church for tonight's seminar.  It was on baptism.  After the meeting, there were refreshments, but Sarah and I missed that because we raced out of there and went over to Donesky's house.  The FountainView kids are here for View Southern and they had a get-together tonight at the Donesky's house.  It started at 6, but of course Sarah and I couldn't go until after the meeting.  So we got there just before 9 and were able to stay for almost an hour before everybody went to bed.  They had a great big bonfire!  And lots of singing.  So it was fun.  But they all have to get up at 2:00 in the morning to head to Nashville for their flight out, so they wanted to get a little bit of sleep I think. =P

Sarah and I left just before 10:00, and we got back to campus, I dropped her off, and now I'm in my room.  I finished editing the video from the hike and then I wrote this.  And now I am going to head to bed. :)  Goodnight!

Happy Sabbath!

I got up at 5:20 this morning so I could finish my Hebrew assignment before class at 8.  I even did laundry while I was doing it. :)  But anyway, I finished the Hebrew homework at 7:35, so I had time to quickly take a shower and get dressed before class.

After class, DeWayne, Katie, and I drove over to Joe's house for breakfast.  Everyone else had gotten there at 8:30, but the three of us had class at 8...  Anyway, so we had an amazing breakfast with pancakes and waffles and scrambled tofu and tater tots and amazing friends. :)  Below is a video clip I took after we had finished eating.  It's unedited and quite crazy, but anyway.  It shows us at our worst I guess. lol (For those of you getting this as an email, make sure and click the link to my blog so you can see the video...)

After breakfast, we went out and played soccer and then football for awhile.  Then I helped LisaMarie with some homework that she had to do that she wasn't here for.  (She was the one who came from AFCOE after we had already started...)  So anyway, today was her last day to get all the back-work finished.  So we worked on that for an hour and a half or so, then I went and played Ultimate Frisbee until it was time to take a shower and eat supper and rush off to the meeting!  (Yeah, I skipped lunch because I had had such a wonderful breakfast. :))

The meeting tonight was about the change of the Sabbath, and it went really well I think.  We'll see if any of our contacts show up for church tomorrow...

But anyway, after we got back, I visited with DeWayne and Ryan for awhile, and now I'm off to sleep.  Goodnight!

October 13, 2011

Today was quite the day!  We had John Bradshaw for Michelle's class and for outreach class this afternoon.  He was mainly talking about Sabbath visits...  So that will be very practical come Sunday and we have to do them!  Oh yeah, and I got to see Donesky's several times today around campus.  It's the View Southern thing today, so Andrew was there and I got to meet Sam finally. (Heather's roommate)  So that was nice. :)  This afternoon, Hahna and I gave another Bible study to Mr. King.  And then we made it back just in time to go to the GYC Southeast meeting tonight.  GYC Southeast is going right now, but this was the only meeting we could make it to with the Evangelistic meetings.  So John Bradshaw is the speaker for that too, and I really enjoyed his message tonight!  Talking about the prodigal son.  Then I came back to my room and have been working on Hebrew homework that's due in the morning.  Ugh.  I've been working on it in all my free time all day, and I'm only halfway through right now.  But I am so tired, I'm not thinking straight, so I'll get up early and do it in the morning.  At least I don't have to eat breakfast before Hebrew class.  We're all going over to Joe's place in the morning at 8:30 (9:00 for those of us who have class...) for breakfast and Pastor Bradshaw will be there too I think.  And then we'll play soccer or football or something after that.

But anyway, I'm off to sleep!  Goodnight!

October 12

So today I skipped the prayer group because I needed to finish going over flashcards and stuff before the Vocab Quiz in Hebrew this morning.  I got a hundred percent on that again. :)  Anyway, worship was at 10, and Michelle did a good job.  She talked about how God's strength is made perfect in our weakness.  Then we had two classes by Dr. Parker.  The first one was on the 70 week prophecy and the 2300 days.  And then the second class was on why we go to church.  He showed some hilarious videos. lol

This afternoon I worked some on a Bible study I thought was due tomorrow, forgetting that it was postponed to the 25th because John Bradshaw is going to be our guest speaker for that class tomorrow. :)

Then we had the meeting tonight, and Hahna brought a snake she had found the other day.  I actually touched it, so be proud of me. =P

After the meeting, Matt informed us that he was meeting someone to play tennis at 9:00, so a bunch of us decided to join him. :)  So that was a lot of fun!  Hopefully we can play that more often too.

But anyway, I guess I'm off to bed.  Hope you all have a great night!

October 11

Wow, I totally forgot about this...  So today went well.  But it is after midnight and I can't think of anything extraordinary that happened today, so I think I will go to sleep and hope that I have something more intelligent to say tomorrow. =P

Goodnight!

Monday night

Just a quick note before drifting off to sleep...  Today wasn't too exciting.  Except that I got all that Hebrew done before prayer at 7:00!  So I was happy about that. :)

Other than that, just the normal stuff.  LisaMarie and I finished up a conversation that was required for one of our classes before worship this morning.  It was on salvation and we could have gone on for hours!  But we had only met a half hour before worship. =P  Then Hahna had worship.  She talked about role models and how we are to represent Christ.  It was very good.

This afternoon I ran to Wal-Mart and did some homework, and then we had the meeting tonight.  Anyway, I'm off to sleep.  I'm tired!

Sunday, October 9, 2011

October 9

Hebrew day.  I guess that's about what I'd call it. =P  I got up this morning at 6:30 and as soon as breakfast was over, I was working on my Hebrew homework that's due in the morning.  Then we played Ultimate Frisbee at 9:30.  That was a lot of fun!  We only played until about 11, though, because we all had stuff to do...  So I worked on Hebrew again until I ate lunch at 1:15.  Then outreach class at 2:00.  We talked about the Salvation visit.  Some of us went to people's houses that had made decisions for Christ.  So that was good.  Hahna and I just did come-back visits, though, but none of our people were home anyway. :(  Oh well.

This evening was the SAU Symphony Orchestra concert.  They did 3 pieces, one of which was Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky.  Very good!  So now I'm back in my room.  Getting ready to do a little more homework, and then get up and finish it before class in the morning.  So goodnight!

Wonderful Sabbath!

So today was a wonderful Sabbath. :)  It started with getting to bed before 10 last night and sleeping until 7:50 this morning!!! :)  Sabbath School and church were good too.  And then there were a couple different options for lunch.  Amir was having a birthday party at his adopted "parents" home, but he could only bring 10 people.  And then I had been invited over to my adopted "parents" home for lunch as well, and I could bring a couple of friends.  So between the two of us, we pretty much got everybody to lunch.  Katie and Ray came with me to the Wilsons' house.  We had a delicious lunch!  And after visiting for awhile, Katie called LisaMarie and then went over to where she boards her horse.  She was over there with DeWayne, Ashley, and Deborah.  So anyway, we all took turns riding the horse and walking.  But it was a lot of fun.  And we did NOT let Katie ride this time! lol

Anyway, after that, we rushed over to the church for the meeting tonight.  Ethan White preached tonight.  It was on Salvation and was amazing!  Then we had refreshments, which were also really good.  After I was done, I went over to ask LisaMarie a quick question, and suddenly we were deep into a discussion on how to have the assurance of salvation.  That kind of propelled the discussion I had with DeWayne and Ryan this evening after we had gotten back.  So yeah.  Deep subject...  But anyway, Katie had left her phone at the horse stable, so after the meeting she asked if we could go back there and get it.  So we did that and then stopped at Wal-Mart to get gas.  And when we pulled onto campus it was so funny!  Because I pull up in front of the girls' dorm to drop her off and I pull in right behind LisaMarie's van!  So I honk, and I think that kind of scared her, because she quickly put on her emergency blinkers.  Well, then I got out of the car and went up to the driver's door.  Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Luke Gonzalez (?) was talking with Sarah on the passenger's side, but he left as I was walking up to the vehicle...  Anyway, I pull LisaMarie's door open and both girls scream so loud!  It was hilarious. =P  At least before Sarah got out of the van, she told me thank you for scaring them. =P  I'm not sure how heartfelt that was, though... lol

Anyway, after that, DeWayne, Ryan, and I went on a long walk and talked about salvation, but I already talked about that.  So now I am off to bed!  Have an amazing night! :)

Friday night

Hey Ya'll!  Wow, am I tired...  I haven't done a bit of school since Hebrew class this morning. =P  I spent nearly 3 hours playing soccer, then had lunch and played Ultimate Frisbee for an hour and a half.  By then, it was time to leave for the meeting.  Yeah, I hurt my ankle at the beginning of the day.  So it hasn't been the most comfortable.  But I was still able to kill myself on Frisbee and our team of 3 was able to make quite a few successive wins against the other team that had 4.  So I was happy about that. :)

Anyway, I am exhausted so I will write more tomorrow and get to bed now.  Goodnight!

October 6

I was greeted with quite the shock when I got to Hebrew lab this morning.  I found out that Steve Jobs had died last night!!!  I guess it was to be expected sooner or later, but it's kind of ironic that he dies on the same day they announce the iPhone 4S...  Anyway, so that has been the topic of a lot of our discussions today.

This afternoon I mostly had off, so I was able to get my Hebrew homework done for tomorrow morning.  Boy was it a long exercise...  But I just finished and I'm going to head to bed!  The only thing we did for outreach was try to visit a girl that hasn't been at the meetings the last couple of nights, but she wasn't home, so we just left her the sermon notes.  So that didn't take too long.

I'm trying to think of anything else exciting from today...  Oh yeah!!!  I had forgotten about the dividend until today!!!  So I am really happy about that. :)  But anyway, I guess I'm too tired to think of anything else.  So goodnight!

October 5

So, it's not extremely late, but I'm tired, so this will be short.  Today was really good.  Classes went well.  Dr. Parker taught both of our SALT ones, because Chester Clark is gone.  So that was a pleasant surprise. :)

This afternoon I didn't do a whole lot.  Deborah and I prepared our Bible studies for tomorrow together, then I ran to the mall to look for a couple things.  But it didn't have anything I was looking for. :(  Oh well.  Then we had a delicious supper at the church before the meetings.  It was haystacks or burritos or just plain chile.  Yeah, quite good. :)

Then after coming back, DeWayne, Ryan, LisaMarie and I spent over an hour in her van talking.  But then we all decided it was time to get to bed. =P  So that's what I'm doing!  Goodnight!

Tuesday night

Yeah, today was a long day...  Lots of classes, but it was also fun.  Dr. Parker took the Southern Connections class outside, which was so nice!  And we even did skits, which was lots of fun. :)  The topic was on dishonesty, so we split up into 3 teams and we each had to come up with a skit that demonstrated a dilemma, and then the rest of the class was supposed to brainstorm ideas of how to go about it with honesty.  And then after that, Karen brought the whole class pizza and ice cream and Sprite.  And then she told AMAZING mission stories from one of the trips to India she was on!  Yeah, I'm really looking forward to going to Africa!  I think I forgot to post it on here, but Friday I got the acceptance letter.  So I am going to Chad in May!  And LisaMarie is actually going there as well, so that will be nice. :)  Natanial is going to India...  And Katie doesn't know where she's going yet - wherever Karen goes.  So we'll see.

This evening, the meeting went really well.  It was on the Great Controversy and war in heaven.  Then I came back to the dorm, talked with Mom and Seth and then Heather, went over flashcards for the morning, and now I'm off to bed.  Goodnight!

Monday

Today we had quite the pleasant surprise!  Dr. Parker emailed last night saying that the study guide that was due today in Christian Beliefs wasn't due anymore, since Elder Gibbs was teaching that class too.  And we didn't end up having a Vocab Quiz in Hebrew this morning because the Reader printed off the wrong thing.  So yeah!  Nothing terribly scary today!  We just listened to Elder Gibbs all day.  It was extremely interesting!  He had so many good points!  I'm thankful I recorded all of it. :)

He went until 5:15, then we had to be at the church shortly after that for the Evangelistic Meeting.  Tonight was on the 7 last plagues and Armageddon.  So anyway, now I'm back in my room and I'm going to just finish up a couple of things and get to bed at a somewhat decent hour! :)

Sunday evening

Today was wonderful!  I played Flag Football for the first time this morning for a couple of hours.  That was a lot of fun!  But boy am I sore...  Yeah, full-contact flag football... lol

Hahna and I went on outreach, but no one was home that we were supposed to visit, so we ended up going to the church and reading for awhile.  We had 3 chapters in a book that we're supposed to read and write a small report on by Wednesday, so we took turns reading that.  But we were both so tired that staying awake was a slight problem. =P

Tonight was Ethan's concert, which Hahna sang a couple songs in as well.  He is a good pianist and composer - and he's hilarious too! lol  I wish I could have met him, but I ran off right after that and went to the hotel that Elder Gibbs is staying in and spent about an hour and a half visiting with him.  I'm really looking forward to class tomorrow. :)

Then I came back to the dorm and DeWayne and I ran over the Hebrew flash cards a few more times for the Vocab Quiz in the morning and now I'm off to bed.  Goodnight!

Sabbath

Today was amazing!  I got to sleep in until 8:00!!! :)  And that wasn't even the most amazing thing! :)  I was able to get out of part of Sabbath School this morning, so I went over to the Village Chapel where Sean and Brenda Mayes were giving a presentation for Sabbath School.  So I got to visit with them a little before that and then they showed pictures and told quite a few stories.  It was really good!  Mr. Mayes was also doing the sermon, but I had to head back over to Chat. First.  Today was communion.  And then afterwards we had potluck.  Oh yeah, and Anna and Barry came today too. :)  So we got to visit quite a bit during potluck.  I hadn't seen Anna in probably at least a week and a half or more.  She was texting me last night and saying she would be really glad when SALT is over, because every time she invites me to go to some event or something, I'm always busy. =P  But that made me really sad.  Because I will not be happy when SALT is over...  We've all become so much like family, I will miss them all so much!  I mean, we'll all still be around and going to school here, but it won't be the same.  We won't be able to spend all day long every day with each other.  So yeah.  We decided we need to start a SALT club and still do a bunch of things together next semester. :)

After potluck, Joe, Michelle, Deborah, Brandon, Daniel, and I went over to help Thomas who is the East Ridge Church's Bible Worker.  Their Prophecy Series started tonight, but they had a health fair all afternoon.  So we went to the flee market in East Ridge and passed out flyers to everybody for the health fair.  And Joe went to the fast food restaurant nearby and handed flyers to all the cars in the drive-through. =P  After that we went over to the health fair ourselves.  And Brandon made a paper airplane out of one of our flyers for the prophecy series and through it out the window to some people. lol

Later, we went to the park by the VW plant again and walked a little.  And we were sitting on the grass near a little lake deep in discussion when all of a sudden Joe started getting texts and calls.  DeWayne and Ryan had gone offroading and had popped a tire.  So Matt was having to head out and rescue them with his Jeep.  And LisaMarie texted saying that Katie had fallen off of a horse and she was taking her to the emergency room.  And Max and Amir were nearly out of fuel, so they were hoping they would make it.  And this is all a half hour before we were supposed to be at the church for the meeting!  But, praise God, everyone made it to the church before the night was over.  Katie and LisaMarie didn't make it until way after most people had left, but they still made it.  But I am very thankful, because Kevin made it again tonight and he brought his niece with him.  Their family is confusing...  She can't really be any younger than he is, but anyway.  I would guess she's around 14 or 15 and he's 16 I think...  So yeah.  But they both seemed to enjoy the meeting.  And all the other visitors in the rows that I'm responsible for came back tonight for the second time.  So I'm thankful for that!

Anyway, I seriously need to get to bed!  So goodnight! :)
