Leap day! 2/29/12

So today only comes once in four years...  There must be something significant about that... lol  Oh well.  I can't think of anything at the moment.  Today seemed pretty normal.  Filled with homework and classes.  Speech class was fun as always.  We played pictionary for a little bit (my side lost) and we also divided into groups of four and each team had to give a speech about rock climbing to a different audience.  The teacher gave us a little slip of paper with our audience written on it.  My team had 30 6th graders who were at the meeting because they chose to come. :)

Hebrew was pretty fun too.  We had our grammar quiz, then we just worked on translations for the rest of the class period. :)  It was the beginning of Exodus 20.  Yeah, it took us long enough to figure that out. =P

This afternoon I went out with Joe and we did one Bible study, then had prayer meeting.  The pastor was at the conference office or something, so he left it up to the Bible Workers to do prayer meeting.  Pretty scary if you ask me. =P  When Joe said that right after I had led song service, one of the guys there was like "Let's pray!"  Oh well.  It went well.  The pastor's going to be gone next Wednesday too, so Joe told me I'm doing prayer meeting then.  It's not too bad, because all I'll have to do is the prayer requests and prayer at the beginning and then show the next episode of "In the Footsteps of Paul" and then talk about it afterward.

Well, that's about it.  I started on the book report that's due tomorrow, but I'll finish it in the morning.  Seth's been asleep ever since I've been here, so no telling when he went to bed.  He has to start work at midnight...  But anyway, yeah, I'm off to bed.  So goodnight! :)

Tuesday

Sarah helped me with song service again this morning.  My voice was having trouble and she said she couldn't sing either, so it made it interesting. =P  But I think she sounded fine and she thought I sounded fine, so maybe we fooled the audience too. :)

After that, Seth and I spent quite a bit of time working on the skit that we are hoping to do for the talent show.  It's a parody of "Who's on First?" by Abbott and Costello.  And I also worked on memorizing the Hebrew verb forms I have to write out tomorrow in Hebrew class.  There are only 24 I think, but still...

I had to give a speech in Presentation Technology class and then we had choir practice.  The song is really starting to sound good!  We are doing the world premier for this piece "Neither Life Nor Death" written by a former Southern student.  It has a lot of weird chords and harmonies in it, but the third movement, which we were working on today, is actually really amazing!  I can't wait until the concert when we'll have full orchestra accompaniment!

In Intro to Ministry class we finally got our IDAK tests back.  That was the career test we took...  So we started going over all the information today and will finish that on Thursday.  Then I had my midterm for Christian Spirituality, which I think went really well.  After that Seth and I practiced some more, and then Katie, Anna, Seth, Eric, and I all went downtown to IHOP because it's national pancake day and they had free pancakes to celebrate!  So those were really good. :)

I then did some door-to-door work before attempting to do a couple of studies, but it didn't work out for the studies so they are rescheduled...  Oh well.

Seth and I had the audition for the talent show tonight.  I don't know how well it went...  I think the judges thought it went better than we thought it went, so we'll see...  And then Eric came into our room and we planned out food and stuff for the backpacking trip we're taking this weekend.  I cannot wait for that!!!  We leave Friday and don't come back until Tuesday!  So yeah, very exciting. :)  Then I just have to work the rest of next week and maybe get ahead on some of the assignments...  Hmm.  Definitely sleep.  And do something epic with the friends that are stuck here on campus.  Oh, and SLEEP!!!  That is something I think I've forgotten about.  But since I just reminded myself, I am thinking it's a very good idea!  So I'm off to bed.  Goodnight! :)

Monday

So today was kind of frustrating, but also productive at the same time.  This afternoon right after lunch I had to go to the church to meet with the Pastor for awhile.  Then I was hoping to get some outreach time in, but after that Seth had to use my car, then it was going into the shop to get the tires rotated and the air pressure checked and stuff.  It's so wonderful having a friend that can work on your car during their auto mechanics lab time. :)  But anyway, there wasn't enough time between those two to do anything, so I was stuck here.  I played tennis with Eric and Sarah Chang which was a lot of fun!  It's been so long since I played that it took me awhile to get back any skill I once had, but I was starting to do decent after we had played for an hour and a half.  Then I came back to the room and worked on some stuff before Seth went to bed at like 5:30 because he has to work at midnight.  So I went and took my car into the shop, then went to the science building and did the homework that's due in Presentation Technology class tomorrow, then went to the library and read a couple more chapters in the book that I need to have a report written on by Thursday.  After that, Seth woke up for a little bit and we spent some time working on the skit we're wanting to do for the talent show.  Auditions are tomorrow night and they are going to be weeding 44 people down to 10 - 12.  So yeah, we'll see what happens.  Oh yeah, and I found out that I got the role of John in the SonRise pageant, so that adds another thing to my plate.  Yes, I seriously think I'm crazy right about now. =P  But anyway, I'm off to bed, so goodnight! :)

Sunday

Yay!  I think I'm going to get to bed at a decent hour tonight!  I'm so happy. :)  It's before 9:00 and I'm getting ready for bed.  Today was pretty good.  Got up before 8:30, took a shower and ate breakfast, then worked on some Hebrew homework before meeting Kayla and finishing it with her.  After that, Eric and I went and took our computer concepts test then I did some more homework before leaving for outreach.  I did one Bible study which went well.  Then I ate dinner with Eric, Katie, and Anna before continuing reading in a book that I have to have a report written on by Thursday.  And now I am off to bed!  So goodnight! :)

Sabbath

Wow, long day!  Church, lunch at the caf, walk on the greenway, games at Heldzingers', Taco Bell run with friends, then watching Seven Days in Utopia which was the midnight movie tonight.  All I can say about that is wow.  It is SO incredible!  Definitely a new favorite!!!

Anyway, I am exhausted, so goodnight! :)

Happy Sabbath!

Boy, I cannot believe that it is Sabbath again already, but I am very thankful!  I'll be even more thankful after Sabbath School is over...  But yeah, I've been sick for a whole week now and am really hoping that I get well soon.

On a different note, today went pretty well.  Our speech teacher's daughter is sick, so we didn't have speech class today.  So I worked on Sabbath School and played dare base, capture the flag, and freeze tag with a bunch of friends this afternoon.  Then we had our study at Joe's and vespers.  And now I am off to bed at a decent time!  So goodnight!

Thursday night

Boy am I tired!  And have such a headache!  So I am off to bed.  Today went OK.  It was wonderful weather!  Made it up to 77 degrees!  I've been doing homework and studying for the vocal quiz in the morning and gave a great Bible study on the Great Controversy.  But right now all I can think about is bed, so goodnight!

Wednesday

Today was pretty good!  It started with the SALT breakfast at 7:00 in the cafeteria.  Then Hebrew class of course, where I missed one of the three questions on our little quiz. :(  Oh well.  Fitness for Life class was stretching, so that wasn't too bad.  And Speech class was in the library where we learned how to do research for speeches.

This afternoon I played racquet ball with Seth and Katie for awhile, then took Seth to Walmart to grab a couple of things before I left to visit a couple of people and pick up Louise and take her to a stop smoking thing.  Then I went to prayer meeting.  So yeah, it was a good day.  But I am off to bed early tonight.  Goodnight! :)

Tuesday

OK, so I was feeling better last night, but that was before the effect of the cake and brownies I ate had set in. =P  Oh well.  Hopefully tomorrow will find me feeling better again. :)  Today was extremely stressful. Every Tuesday it seems like everything is due, but praise God I just finished the last test and uploaded the last assignment that was due before 11:55 tonight.  And as a bonus, I even got the homework done for Hebrew that's due in the morning.  So yeah, I can go to bed thankful. :)

Oh yeah, so random things I did today besides work my head off with homework was, well, work my head off doing homework! =P  No, I did have a meeting with the Pastor, and talked with Charity for awhile on the phone since it's her birthday.  Hard to believe she's already 14!

But anyway, I am exhausted, so will say goodnight. :)

Monday night

I am feeling 100% better today than I did yesterday!  I haven't been in bed at all. :)  And the test went fairly well this morning in Hebrew, I think.  So I am very thankful about that!  Otherwise it's just been homework and classes today.  And doing a couple Bible Studies with Joe this afternoon.  That was really nice!  And Katie somehow had several tea bags sitting in front of my door this morning with a note to get well soon (because sooner is better than later).  So that made my day. :)  Anyway, I have SO much that is still due by tomorrow and then Hebrew that's due Wednesday morning that I haven't even started on, but I am going to bed at a decent time and getting up early.  Seth just went to bed because he has to get up at midnight to work the 12 - 8 shift, so I guess I need to get to bed as well - and be thankful I get to sleep until 5:30! :)  Anyway, goodnight! :)

Sunday, February 19, 2012

Sunday

Today I haven't felt very well at all, so I spent most of it in bed. I got up this afternoon to do outreach, then studied with Kayla for a little while for the test tomorrow. And now I'm off to bed. So goodnight! :)

Sabbath

It has been a really good Sabbath.  My alarm didn't go off until 9:00 this morning. :)  I was up before then, but it was still nice.  Doug Bachelor had Sabbath school at 10:00 and church at 11:00.  He talked about Jonah for his sermon and all the parallels between the life of Jonah and the life of Christ.  It was incredible!  I had never realized how the sign of Jonah that Jesus said would be given the people was actually more than just being in the belly of the whale.

After eating lunch at a friend's place with a whole bunch of other friends, I raced over to the Chattanooga First Church for a meeting of the Evangelism Committee.  Then came back to hear the last part of Pastor Doug's talk this afternoon.  Mr. Ivins was here today, so it was great visiting with him for awhile as well!  We were talking so long that we were late to Heldzingers' place tonight, but oh well.  We watched the film "Hidden in Silence", about a girl that hid Jews in her attic during World War II.  It was incredible!

Anyway, I am now in my room, so goodnight! :)

TGIS!

So today started well.  I slept in until 7:00! :)  I ate breakfast after Hebrew class, hence the reason I slept in.  Then I worked on my speech for awhile and did other random homework before speech class at 12:00.  I gave my demonstration speech about how to write a Bible study and I felt it went pretty well.  A little bit long, but so was everyone else's. =P  Seth, Eric, and I went to Walmart after that, then I cleaned my room and put stuff away before playing Ultimate Frisbee until supper time.  So I took a shower, ate supper, then went over to the gym to hear Doug Bachelor.  His talk tonight was really good!  And then we rushed over to vespers.  That was really good as well!!!  So it has been a wonderful end to a long week.  TGIS!  (Thank God it's Sabbath!) :)

After vespers, we had nachos in the lobby of the dorm then hung out in Eric's room for awhile.  But now I am off to bed.  So goodnight! :)

Thurday

Today was a somewhat long day, but it was also really nice because it's the end of the week. :)  That makes me SO happy!  I led song service this morning with William.  Then I met with Hannah and Debbie to plan for the "show" we have in speech class tomorrow.  We have demonstration speeches and we were divided up into groups and we have the whole class period for our "show".  Anyway, so we did that, I finished a paper for Dr. Tryon's class, then went to convocation.  Today was just speeches from the people who are running for office in the Student Association.  So that was pretty interesting.  Oh yeah, and I was thinking today that people from your past will always be there to haunt you.  Because I was sitting with Anna Bartlett and Ashley Chism during convo and then I had a class with both Daniel Fukuda and Rebecca Benson today.  As I do every Tuesday and Thursday...  But yeah, it's kind of funny.

After all my classes, I talked with Dr. Parker for a little while about different things I have to do next school wise, then I played racquet ball with Seth for a half hour before rushing off to attempt to give a couple of Bible studies.  Both people weren't home that I attempted to visit, so then I came back, grabbed a piece of pizza from the cafeteria, then went to meet the others in the speech classroom to make sure everything was set up and working for tomorrow.  After that, I rushed back over to Lynnwood Hall for an interview for a student mentor position next semester.  That went pretty well.  I was surprised to see both Kayla and Dara there, so hopefully we all get hired.  That would be fun. :)

Then I played racquet ball with Katie, Sarah, and Amy for another half hour and now I am getting ready to get to bed at a somewhat descent hour!  So goodnight! :)

Wednesday

OK, so I am exhausted.  Today was spent in schoolwork, homework, visitation, prayer meeting, audition for the SonRise pageant in April, and watching Gnomeo and Juliet with Seth, Eric, and DeWayne.  And now I am off to bed.  Goodnight! :)

February 14

Wow, so it is really late, so this will be short.  Today was spent in homework and classes, with outreach, racquet ball, a birthday party, and a phone call with Heather thrown in for good measure. :)  And I got the homework done finally that was due today, and will hopefully get up early enough in the morning to finish my Hebrew homework that's due tomorrow morning...  And then get a good start on the papers that are due the next day...  Anyway, yeah, most of the afternoon was spent in text battles with Katie and Anna. =P  They left cards for Eric, Seth, and I on my car and then vehemently denied having anything to do with it. =P  But I finally squeezed the truth out of them. :)  Anyway, yeah, today has been an interesting day with aspects of Valentine's Day.  I think it was an emotional roller coaster for half the campus. =P  But anyway, I am exhausted, so off to bed I go!  Goodnight! :)

Monday

I'm feeling quite happy today. :)  This morning was Hebrew class of course, and I did fine on the Vocab test. :)  Then I worked on web development homework until my Fitness for Life class, then we had speech class.  After that, I ate lunch and met with the pastor for nearly an hour.  Then I went out to visit some contacts that Joe wanted me to visit.  And then I went by Mr. King's house and he was actually home!!!  So I visited with him for awhile and we set up Bible studies on Thursday.  And I went by another of my contacts from last semester and I set up studies again with her on Tuesday nights.  And I went to one of the guys' house that I was supposed to do a study with yesterday and he was home, so we studied Daniel 2 together.  So it was a wonderful afternoon! :)

This evening I took my car into Ledford Hall and Annalisa (with instructor help) balanced the tires on my car during her lab time for auto mechanics.  I've been meaning to get it in to somewhere to do that because they have been getting really bad.  So I was very happy that she was willing to do it. :)  Then I worked on homework and played racquet ball with Seth for a little while.  And now I think I might work on a little more homework or just head to bed...  We'll see.  But for now, goodnight! :)

Sunday, February 12, 2012

Sunday

Well, I feel like today has been slightly unprofitable, but oh well.  This morning I attempted to work on some homework, but didn't get too far.  Then I played Airsoft at Heldzingers' house for awhile before going out this afternoon on outreach.  All four of the Bible study contacts were not home.  So I came back and worked on some more homework in my room with Seth and Eric before heading up to the lobby to work on Hebrew vocab with Kayla.  Then I got kidnapped.  Yeah, it was pretty epic.  Katie and Anna kidnapped me, blindfolded me, and took me to Victoria's house where we ate ice cream and visited and stuff.  It was fun. lol

Anyway, I am very exhausted, so goodnight! :)

Sabbath

So I am really exhausted.  But today was pretty epic.  We went to Chattanooga First church, where we started the Personal Evangelism Sabbath School.  Then the pastor preached a sermon on God's ideal for marriage, due to the holiday that is coming up on Tuesday. =P  After that, we ate lunch at the cafeteria, then had a little worship service at Victoria's house.  She just had surgery this last week, so couldn't make it to church...  Then SALT did a vespers at the MacDonald Road Church before a bunch of us ran downtown Chattanooga to watch the IMAX Tornado Alley, then get Frozen Yogurt, and finally play a few games at Heldzingers' house.  So it was a fun evening.  But now I'm off to bed.  Goodnight! :)

Friday night

Today went pretty well.  I think I got the grammar quiz right.  And I got my homework turned in.  Then I worked some on the Sabbath School for tomorrow before playing racquet ball with Katie and Anna Lisa for awhile.  Then speech class, lunch, and then getting a few things done before I did some outreach.  Not very successful today, but oh well.  As soon as I got back to campus, the fire alarms were going off in the boys' dorm, so I couldn't get inside.  So I played Ultimate Frisbee in dress clothes. =P  It wasn't too bad...

Vespers tonight was really good.  Then Stefan, Eric, Tyler, and I went over to Tim Prewitt's house for awhile and now it's time for bed.  So goodnight! :)

2/9/12

Today went pretty well.  Katie helped me with song service this morning, then I got some stuff done for the Sabbath School on Sabbath before meeting Kayla to study Hebrew.  Since we finished our first test and our average is at least a B, we're not required to go to lab sessions anymore.  So we decided that we'll quit going to the lab and just meet and study by ourselves during that time instead.  So today was the first day we did that. :)

Convo was pretty good.  We are having a student week of prayer on campus this week, so it was part of that.  Then classes...  And I was really hungry by the time 3:15 came around and I got out of class so I could eat!  But thankfully Katie brought a granola bar for me at the 1:00 class we have together.  So I really appreciated that!

This afternoon I just finished Hebrew homework that's due in the morning and hopefully finished memorizing the paradigms I have a test over tomorrow.  It's a 100% test, so if I miss anything, I have to retake it, just like our vocabs...

Oh, and DeWayne and I played racquet ball for an hour as well.  So that was a lot of fun. :)  But now I'm off to bed.  Goodnight! :)

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Wednesday

So today was pretty good.  Found out I got 88% on my test, instead of 87%.  They changed the grading since everyone did so bad, so it brought everyone's grade up.  Especially for those who didn't do so well...  Anyway, I worked on the Sabbath School for this Sabbath for awhile this morning.  And then this afternoon I did a whole bunch of door-to-door work.  So that was good.  Then I met with the pastor for awhile this evening, then worked on topics for the SS class, then ate supper and had a Bible study with Brian during prayer meeting.  Then after getting back to my room, Seth, Eric, Tyler and I all watched Toy Story 3.  I think it's my favorite one yet. :)  I had seen half of it last semester, but this time I saw the whole thing and really enjoyed it.

But anyway, I'm off to bed now.  Goodnight! :)

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

What a day!

What a day it's been!  I have run the whole gammit of emotions, from really depressed to ecstatic!  The first good thing that happened was that I finally got the results back from the Hebrew test.  I got 87%!!!!  I was so happy!  I was hoping that I might get a C, but a B+???  God is so good!

This afternoon I did homework with Kayla, played soccer for awhile, and went on outreach.  And I had the most amazing experience!  In the hour and a half I was out, I got 3 Bible studies!  That is so exciting.  You can check my other blog if you want to hear more about it. :)

Anyway, I am now off to bed.  Goodnight! :)

Monday, February 6, 2012

Monday night

So today went pretty well.  Sorta...  Hebrew class at 8:00.  Then I worked on homework until class at 11:00 and 12:00.  This afternoon I worked on homework, took Seth and Eric to the mall to pick up some gear that Seth had ordered for kayaking, then this evening I did some outreach.  This was one of those nights that I was wishing I had a different job, but oh well.  I survived.

Anyway, then I went to the kayaking roll session with Seth and Eric for awhile.  I can't get the kayak to roll over for the life of me, but hopefully I'll get it someday...  And now I'm off to bed.  Goodnight!

Weekend

So I had an amazing weekend!  We had a meeting Friday night, then 4 meetings on Sabbath.  Anyway, we got up there in time for some supper on Friday, had our meeting where Dr. Tryon gave us sort of a preview and introduction to the weekend and started telling us a continued story about a man in the Salvation Army.  We then played music and games and stuff until lights out at 10:15.  There were 16 of us guys stuck in the living room and the 4 girls were on the loft above us.  So it was lots of fun.  It reminded me of a bunch of 12-year-olds on a church campout or something. =P  But it was lots of fun.  Sabbath we had a wonderful breakfast (all the meals were amazing!), then a meeting for Sabbath School where we broke into small groups and mapped out the life of a Bible character for 45 minutes.  Then for church we took a whole bunch of little sticky notes and spent an hour and a half by ourselves writing down important events from our lives.  After lunch, some of us went on a hike to find a waterfall.  It was so much fun!  Even when it started pouring down rain before we started back towards the cabin. =P

After the hike, we had our next meeting where we made sense of all of our sticky notes and organized them on pieces of paper.  After that, we had supper.  Pizza and root beer floats. :)  And then we had our final meeting where we finished the story and wrapped up the whole weekend.  Then we packed and left somewhat earlier than we were planning, due to the fog and rain.

Today I actually got quite a bit done!  I got up by 8:00 and worked on homework for awhile until I left for outreach before 1:00.  I did 5 hours of work and got 3 Bible studies scheduled for next week! :)  I am so happy about that!

Then we had a Super Bowl Party at Heldzingers' house.  The game was actually pretty good!  I was so hoping the Patriots would win, but with 30 seconds left on the clock, they dropped the ball 3 times and sealed their fate. :(  Pretty sad.  Anyway, we had lots of fun.  And we watched a Bill Cosbey Show during half time. :)

But now I am back in my room and getting ready for bed.  So goodnight!

Retreat

Just as a heads up, I'm going on a retreat with the Intro to Ministry class from this afternoon through tomorrow night.  So my computer will be left here and I will shut my phone off as soon as I get there, so my next blog post will be Sunday night.  Have a great weekend! :)

Thursday

Tomorrow is my first Hebrew test of the semester!  I'm really nervous, but we'll see how it goes...  Yeah, and there's homework due tomorrow as well.  But I'm nearly done with that...  I'll finish it in the morning. So today went pretty well.  Lots of schoolwork and study.  But the sun was out and it was warm!  That was so nice. :)  Kayla and I were studying Hebrew outside for awhile.  Then I worked on Hebrew homework, then I played racquet ball with Sarah Doe, Seth, and one of her friends, Amy.  So that got my exercise in for the day. :)  But now I am off to bed.  Goodnight!

February One

Today was pretty good after I finished the Vocab quiz in Hebrew.  I am number one in the class currently!!! :)  Anyway, this afternoon I went visiting with Joe.  That was nice.  Then there was supper and prayer meeting.  And then the fun part!  It was LisaMarie's birthday, so we kidnapped her after prayer meeting, put a pillowcase over her head, locked her arms in handcuffs, and took her home where a whole bunch of us were waiting and we had a party. :)  Oh yeah, the kidnappers were all in black with black face masks and everything. :)  But that was a lot of fun.  But now I am off to sleep!  Goodnight! :)
